Alright Sunshine

‘It’s like the sun casts a spell, some hypnotic solar shite, and suddenly ordinary people dae terrible things.’

As PC Nicky McCreadie responds to a ‘mass brawl’ on The Meadows, it’s not just the Neds she has to worry about. In the aftermath of violence and suspicion, Nicky discovers she might not be the person she thinks she is.

Alright Sunshine explores gender, power, and the politics of public space.

★★★★★ ‘Debbie Hannan's direction is perfect and the show is beautifully paced.’ - Broadway World

★★★★ ‘Nicky must suppress her womanhood and submit to her uniform, and the guttural cry of rage this brings as it tears her up inside is powerfully drawn forth by director Debbie Hannan.’ - The Stage

★★★★ ‘Alright Sunshine packs in a lot of humour in its one-hour run time’ - Theatre & Tonic

★★★★ ‘Director Debbie Hannan builds the tension to an explosive finale. It's remarkable that a monologue with simple (but gorgeous) staging and barely any props such as this can be so tense’ - Lisa In The Theatre

★★★★ ‘Debbie Hannan’s sparky direction keeps the pacing tight and the plot twisty. It’s a chewy and satisfying piece of drama’ - Across The Arts
